'Having used Steve Bevis many years earlier for a smaller project, we contacted him for a quote to refurbish the 'wreck'. He gave us a quote we were happy with and his assurance that we could, planning permission allowing, expect to be in our new house within 6 months. Having just lived next door to a similar project that took 2 years, we were both delighted, surprised and slightly nervous of the end result, but as were were obliged to move to a rental property due the the extensive work making our new home uninhabitable, we went for it, hoping desperately that he would be good to his word.
We have now been in our new house for one year and as to being good to his word, he was! Steve and his team got us in there in six months, having virtually rebuilt the entire interior of the house and parts of the exterior, including an extension over three floors, replaced all doors, all sash windows, installed completely new plumbing and electric systems, kitchens, bathrooms, landscaped both front and back gardens, built an office/shed of outstanding quality at the end of our garden, re-plastered, moved walls, re-corniced, decorated, dug out the basement and installed underfloor heating then laid limestone flooring, built patios and garden walls with railings, re-fenced where needed. In short, the entire house was rebuilt, top to bottom, including reinforcing the loft for future conversion (at one point you could see the roof tiles from out basement floor!) One year on, we are in awe of what he managed to achieve in such a short space of time and have had twelve months to appreciate the care and quality of his work, and his ongoing commitment to sort out 'snagging' issues, which mercifully have been both few and minor, given the scope of the refurbishment.
Throughout the entire project, he was calm, attentive and infinitely patient and by the time we moved in, after six months, all that was left to do was the rear garden and a little decorating, the entire interior having been finished to a high standard. Even our neighbours commented on how polite and thoughtful his team were, which is a godsend when you are moving into a new road, with new neighbours who may have already decided to dislike you having had a bad experience with your builders. We have experienced none of that!
